Kindle (2024)

The 2024 Kindle finally matches the Paperwhite’s pixel density. Text is crisp, the bezel is honest, and the front light is even enough for a late train. What you do not get: warm light, IPX waterproofing, or any interest in EPUB files you did not buy from Amazon.

As a reading appliance it is almost invisible, which is the point. Send-to-Kindle still works. Sideloading is a chore. If your books already live in Amazon’s garden, this is the least expensive way to stop reading them on a phone.
