Decide what you will not install
A paper tablet fails when it becomes a slow iPad. reMarkable and Supernote stay useful by refusing the store. Boox stays useful by admitting you will install Kindle anyway. Scribe stays useful only if the Kindle library is the job.
Front light is a philosophy
Supernote and reMarkable 2 omit it so the sheet stays a sheet. Paper Pro and every Boox include it so you can work on a plane. There is no correct answer. There is only whether you own a lamp.

Ask, before the unboxing video, what a notebook becomes when you leave. PDF and SVG on a disk you control is the adult standard. Cloud formats with a subscription attached are rent.
