Scores are editorial 1–10, not lab measurements. Radar: Carta (ink), OLED (pine), IPS LCD (outline).
- E Ink (Carta). Bistable pigment. Best paper analog. Holds an image with no power.
- E Ink Kaleido 3. Filter color. Grain and a darker page in exchange for comics and covers.
- E Ink Gallery 3. Pigment color. Slow, rich, for notebooks rather than browsers.
- OLED. Perfect blacks indoors. Washes out in sun. Always emitting light at your face.
- IPS LCD. The default laptop panel. Backlight, glare, decent color, thirsty.
- Mini-LED. Local dimming for HDR. Still a lamp. Still not paper.
- Memory LCD (MIP). Pebble’s cousins and Withings’ face. Not E Ink. Very efficient, less paper-like.
- Reflective LCD. Daylight Computer, TCL NXTPAPER. Color and motion with a paper-ish surface. Not bistable pigment.
